On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Milan Design Week, Kartell presented a special project as a genuine tribute to the city, an "act of love" towards the city which saw the company's begininngs and its successes from the early 1050s. The projects involved many personalities who are symbols of Milan, from different artistic and creative backgrounds, from fashion to design, from literature to to entertainment, music and cuisine. Them with Kartell have created a collection of the brand's iconic pieces re-interpreted or as Kartell calls them "Milaneseified".
Each participant to the project has chosen one of the cult pieces of Kartell and has transformed it according to his/her taste, creativity and inventiveness, with the main theme being a tributo to Milan.
As you can see from the photos among the many names who have contributed to the project can be found grean Milanese fashion houses like Dolce Gabbana, DSquared, Etro, Missoni, Antonio Marras, Moschino. Photographers like Gabriele Basilico, Maurizio Galimberti, Fabrizio Ferri. Even chefs like Carlo Cracco and Davide Oldani. Designer and architects: Mario Bellini, Piero Lissoni Alberto Meda, Phillippe Starck, Tokujin Yoshioka. Even TV and radio celebrities like Umberto Veronesi, Linus, Fabio Volo. The city's soccer team too Milan and Inter have designed each a special couch.
All these wonderful designs will be sold in a charity auction and the proceeds will be entirely given to the "Fondazione Umberto Veronesi" which is a foundation based in Milan devoted to the progress in science. But this is not all, for a year a percentage of the sales from Kartell Milan Flagship store with go the the same foundation.
